The turnout for the IREM Young Professionals mixer at The Pearl Hotel was awesome.
The evening started off with a social hour and the group enjoying drinks and food in the hotel bar.  Later, we went poolside to hear from Greg Strangham, the owner and dreamer of The Pearl Hotel.  He spoke about his visions for the project including discussions on acquiring the property and working out logistics with city planning.  He also discussed financing for the project and how he came up with the name, The Pearl Hotel.  After hearing from Greg, the group played a fun networking game that allowed people who found their match to pick out a shell.  If the shell contained a white pearl, the drawer won a gift.  There were 10 lucky drawers winning gifts ranging from pearl earrings to a $100 gift card to Nordstrom.

We would like to thank Greg for hosting our event and hope the exposure will help the success of his venture.  The next IYP event is planned for March 2008

 iyp mixer @ Anthology

IYP held yet another successful Mixer. This time around IYP held it’s first ever joint event, teaming up with the newly formed CCIM Young Professionals. The event was held at Anthology, one of Downtown’s newest restaurants and music venues.

Anthology is located on the lower levels Metro Work, a newly built office condominium development.  Metro Work won an Orchid Award from the San Diego Architectural Foundation.  Project Developer Howard Berkson, from Berkson Realty Advisors, enlightened the crowd with a history of the project from conception to grand opening.  Attendees were given tours of the office condos with fantastic views of the downtown area, Star of India and San Diego Bay.

Similar to past IYP events, attendees enjoyed a full night of socializing with fellow IREM members, CCIM members, and an ever-increasing amount of local students making their way into the property management industry.  Fantastic live music was a bonus at this event. The jazz music was pleasant on the ears and soul. Anthology also features a deluxe private dining room overlooking the stage with a Taylor guitars theme.

IYP would like to thank Jodi Ripp and Nicole Brors of CCIM for all of their help.

We don’t know how they do it, but the IYP Council continues to find fun and innovative ways to network.

Please be on the look out look for more information on IYP’s charity event benefiting the Quail Botanical Gardens Children’s Garden Expansion in June.
